Study Leave

The study leave year runs from August until the following July. 30 days (60 sessions) is your total allowance. From this total sessions are deducted for structured internal teaching (as per the teaching timetable). The remaining sessions are available for you to organise your own external study leave events, this is applied for using the Intrepid system. Please remember you will need 5 days (10 sessions) for visits to your ST3 practice. You need to apply via Intrepid for visits to your ST3 practice.

LTFT trainees have study leave time calculated on a pro-rata basis.

Once an external study leave course has been approved by your Educational Supervisor (as part of your PDP), Clinical Supervisor or Rota Coordinator (for the time off to attend), you must enter the training course and estimated study leave expenses onto Intrepid at least two weeks before the date of the course commencing, entering the named people (Educational Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor or Rota Coordinator) spoken to for approval. Study leave will only be approved by the GP Office with these authorisations and it may be necessary to escalate the application to the APD/GP School for final approval.

NOTE** The GP Office automatically receives notification when an application for study leave has been submitted. However, when submitting an expenses claim please let Maria or Paula know by email so your claim can be processed. ALL STUDY LEAVE CLAIMS FOR EXPENSES NEED TO BE SUBMITTED WITHIN 3 MONTHS OF ATTENDING THE COURSE. CLAIMS WILL NOT BE PAID AFTER 3 MONTHS.

NOTE*** If the teaching session is on the teaching timetable you do not need to submit an Intrepid application. Attendance will be recorded from completed feedback.
