Who we are....

 Jim

Jim Bartlett

I am the Associate Dean for the Bath scheme which means I am the link between the you and the school of primary care (the ‘deanery’) via the TPDs. I was a GP and trainer in Shropshire for 30 years before moving to Wiltshire in 2018, but I grew up in Bath and it feels very much home. I am no longer in active clinical practice but I am still an appraiser and  a college examiner and I help run the Southwest RCA/CSA course. Our allotment, garden and our dogs take up most of my spare time although I do try to fit in theatre, music, bell ringing  and travel (!) as well whenever possible.

I am a GP partner and trainer (ES) at Spa Medical Centre in Melksham where I also perform carpal tunnel operations. I have been involved with the Bath GP Training scheme since 2009. I was initially planning a career in Emergency Medicine and did most of my hospital jobs and training in Cornwall. After completing GP training in 2007 I was heading back to Cornwall and stopped off in Bath, only intending to stay for a short while!  I have never looked back. I spend most of my time away from work being bossed about by my 3 small children, sometimes managing to escape for a run in the hills surrounding Bath.

I am a GP trainer and salaried GP at Trowbridge Health Centre in Wiltshire, and have an interest in Women's Health as well as enjoying all the variety that General Practice has to offer. I believe in the power of GPs to make the world a better place, be that through a great person-centred consultation or by working with and speaking up for our communities. I have been a very happy resident of the amazing city of Bath ever since moving here to start my GP training in 2008, and now have two daughters to keep me busy! Away from work, I love tennis, outdoor swimming and spending time at our family allotment.

I am a GP Partner in Clifton, Bristol, having come to General Practice from a background in Emergency Medicine. I did my GP training in Bath, and have been part of the GP Education Team since 2007, and I am also an NHS Appraiser. In the past I dabbled in various other medical activities, including expedition medicine, army medicals, a little bit of TV medicine, acupuncture, some GMC work, and I am very enthusiastic about the portfolio opportunities in a GP career! Outside work I have various interests – sculpture, music and sporty/outdoorsy stuff. I live in Bristol with my partner, young son and dog.

I am a full time GP partner working in a small rural dispensing practice in the Mendip hills, just south of Bath. Medicine was a second career for me; I have a degree in Pharmacology and a background of working in industry. I have a general interest in dermatology and have completed the Cardiff diploma, but my main interest is medical education. I’m an active educational supervisor, I work for the RCGP as a CSA/RCA examiner, I’m an honorary teacher for Bristol Medical School and a team leader for Exile Medics. I’ve got two young girls who are growing up way too fast. Hobbies wise, I’m born and bred Bath, and am unashamedly obsessional about Bath Rugby having supported them since I was a kid. I trail run to keep fit, spend a lot of time in Cornwall, ski as much as I can and I’m working toward by Yachtmaster exams!
